Plastic Surgery – What to Expect on the Day of Surgery

Cosmetic procedures are quite common these days. People undergo these procedures to improve their appearance and self-esteem. Most of the success of plastic surgery depends on the surgeon. Hence, it is important to choose an experienced and highly qualified surgeon for best results. The surgeon should be able to understand the need to do a surgery, any risk that may follow, limitation of procedure, and suggest you the best choice.

Once you decide to get the surgery done, here are some things to expect on the day of surgery:

1. On Arrival

The nurse will take you to a pre-operative room. You are supposed to change into a hospital gown, cap, remove any jewelry you wear and prepare for surgery.

2. Surgical Preparations

It is time to meet your anesthesiologist. He will discuss your medical history and review present medications. This is simply a review enquiry. These things must have already been discussed during the initial consultation.

3. Inside the Operating Room

The surgeon will be assisted by the anesthesiologist and support staff. You will sleep (under local anesthesia) through the procedure. So you won’t experience any pain. Once the surgery is over, you’ll be moved into recovery room.

4. After the Surgery

Once you are awake, the nurse will review discharge instructions. The surgeon will meet you. You will get instructions on what to do once you reach home.

Final Note

Complete healing takes time. You need to exercise patience and do all that has been instructed to you. This will help you get the desired results.

Plastic surgery is a serious procedure. Hence, it should not be taken lightly. Make sure you get all information about the procedure including cost of plastic surgery, risks involved, the benefits, and how it can transform your life.
