Forehead Lift Recovery and Tips

Most patients experience only very little bearable pain after a forehead lift. The initial recovery period for most patients ranges between 10-14 days. This depends on a number of factors such as health factors, age, healing capacity, and the type of procedure. Most patients can get back to work within 2 weeks of surgery.

The Recovery Time

Recovery time may vary from one individual to other. It also depends on the type of procedure you had – endoscopic or classic. In both cases, the surgeon will remove staples or stitches on incisions within a week. For patients with temporary fixation screws, the surgeon will remove them in 2 weeks following the procedure. These screws are installed for holding elevated brow in place.

After Effects

It is common for patients to experience some amount of swelling and bruising after the procedure. This may affect other parts of face such as eyes and cheeks.
Patients may also experience some amount of numbness or tingling. However, the symptom will go away with time. Most patients are able to return to work or school within 10 days. Some may even be able to rejoin sooner, depending on the procedure used.

Tips for Initial Healing

It is advised that at least for 2 days after surgery, the patient should keep their head elevated. This helps in reducing the swelling. The swelling will heal within the first 2 weeks. This will make it confortable for you to be in public. It may take many weeks together for the entire swelling to go away.

Patients should avoid activities such as vigorous exercise, heavy lifting, or other activity for the first few weeks after the procedure. These activities can have adverse impact on healing.

When to call a doctor?

Call the doctor immediately if you have a fever exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit or experience bleeding or excessive swelling.
